Article: The Ghirardelli Story

1- Ghirardelli Chocolate Company was founded in June, 1852.
2- The headquarter of the company is in San Francisco.
3- Ghirardelli is the second oldest chocolate company in the United States.

This article explains us that in 1866 the company not only sold chocolate but spices and coffee to Japan, China, Mexico and United States. In this same year, Ghirardelli was importing 1000 pounds of cocoa seeds a year. During 1892, the founder Domenico Ghirardelli retired as head of the company and was replaced by his 3 sons. In 1900 the company was selling only chocolate and mustard, having sold its coffee and spices businesses. Later on in 1965 San Francisco declared Ghirardelli Square an official city landmark. Lindt and Sprungli from Switzerland acquired this company in 1998. The products of this company are baking chocolate, brownie mix, boxed chocolates, bulk products, chocolate squares, cocoa and beverages. It shows us its rich heritage, innovative products and the high quality of them.
